The Hong Kong Arts Festival

If you have any thoughts about visiting Hong Kong in the next couple months - DO IT!

The Hong Kong Arts Festival runs from February 2nd to March 12th. Offering everything from Chinese Opera to Classical Music to Jazz to Canto-Pop to Theatre to Dance to even a Comic Book Exhibition. It is proof that Hong Kong is no longer the money grubbing, cultural wasteland it has been accused of being. You can see the schedule and even book from overseas on the Internet at www.hk.artsfestival.org, by fax at 852-2824-3798 or through the URBTIX hotline at 852-2111-5999. Bookings are accepted up to seven days before the performance. You can also wait until you get here and book over the counter but you risk the event you want being sold out.

Pam and I plan to attend the San Francisco Symphony, John Scofield playing the music of Ray Charles, the Eva Yerbabuena Ballet Flamenco and the Circus Ronaldo. I highly recommend the Festival as an addition to shopping, eating and sightseeing. The Festival provides an alternative to the usual tourist experience.
